Abstract

This editorial introduces Volume 1, Issue 2 (December 2025) of Education: Journal of Teaching and Learning (EJTL) published by Mkwawa University College of Education. The issue presents six peer-reviewed studies addressing contemporary challenges and developments in education within Tanzanian contexts while contributing to broader international scholarly discussions. The articles explore diverse themes including scaffolding techniques for early literacy development, teachers’ perspectives in history education, supervisory practices in vocational training programmes, student participation in co-curricular planning, student teachers’ perceptions of the revised secondary school curriculum, and policy approaches for managing teacher overproduction in higher education. Collectively, the studies emphasise learner-centred pedagogy, effective supervision, curriculum responsiveness, and collaborative participation among stakeholders as key factors in improving educational quality. The issue underscores the need for coordinated efforts among policymakers, educators, researchers, and communities to strengthen professional development, support innovation in teaching and learning, and build sustainable and inclusive educational systems.
